DESCRIPTION

Vintage Hand-Knotted Silk Rug with Allover Herati Pattern

 

A beautifully intricate vintage hand-knotted silk rug featuring a classic allover Herati-inspired pattern in a softly aged palette of ivory, coral, rust, powder blue, warm brown, and muted green.

The field is composed of repeating floral rosettes, stylized leaves, and geometric vine forms arranged in a rhythmic lattice—an enduring Persian carpet motif often referred to as the Herati or Mahi pattern. The wide decorative border carries larger botanical and geometric elements that frame the smaller-scale field beautifully.

What makes this piece especially lovely is the silk: the surface shifts subtly with the light, bringing out different tones and details depending on the viewing angle. Its softened coloration and visible age give it a wonderfully collected character rather than the high-contrast look of a newer rug.
